Erica Holm
Tree Crew
#NextGenArborist
Passionate, adventurous, and unapologetically tree-obsessed, Erica found her calling in arboriculture in 2020—after being thrown into a $500,000 tree care project in Boston’s Emerald Necklace. From volunteering one day a week for free to eventually diving in headfirst, Erica knew almost instantly that this was the path for her. These days, she can be found climbing trees (with a loud “Go up!”), helping her team crush goals, and learning everything she can about trees, gear, and the natural world.
Erica describes the best part of her job as everything—the trees, the people, and the satisfaction of real, physical work that connects her to nature and community. Her least favorite thing? Unspoken communication. She prefers things loud, clear, and straightforward—kind of like a chainsaw over an axe.
In her spare time, Erica can be found hiking or camping in the White Mountains, hanging with her beloved rescue dog, or crate-digging for vinyl records. She plays the banjo and ukulele, listens to everything from rocksteady to bluegrass, and is almost always down for a chocolate brownie sundae.
A few fun facts: Erica once considered becoming a veterinarian, has a full tree sleeve tattoo (plus scarlet tanagers, a garter snake, and a deconstructed peace sign), and answers to the nickname “Ricky the Rat.” Her favorite movie is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and her favorite book is Wilderness and the American Mind.
Whether she’s swinging through a canopy or supporting the crew from the ground, Erica brings passion, humor, and heart to every job. Arboriculture has taught her that she can do it—and she’s just getting started.
Three Words: Nature. Music. Exploring.
Favorite Vacation Spot: White Mountains, NH
Best Thing About Climbing Trees: It’s exciting, physical, and keeps her totally present.
