Jordan Dyer
Tree Crew
Meet Jordan Dyer, known around here as JD—a calm, adventurous soul with a serious passion for the outdoors and a background that’s anything but ordinary. Before becoming an arborist, JD served 16 years in the British Army, joining at just 16 years old. His military career took him across the globe on tours in Afghanistan and Africa, where he developed a deep love for nature, hiking, and physical challenges. His Viking-themed tattoo sleeve is a tribute to his regiment, the Royal Anglian (nicknamed "The Vikings"), and a nod to his roots on the east coast of the UK.
JD got his start in tree work thanks to a friend who introduced him to the industry while he was still in the military. He spent weekends and holidays helping out, and quickly fell in love with the physical and mental demands of arboriculture. Since then, he’s trained professionally in the UK, earning certifications in chainsaw maintenance, felling, aerial rescue, and climbing. He’s also brought over valuable skills from his military days, including field first aid, instructional leadership, and team management—skills that make him not just a great climber, but a solid teammate.
Outside of work, JD is always on the move. He’s passionate about hiking, wild camping, fishing, and playing sports like cricket and rugby. He’s also a certified England Level 2 boxing coach and has led teams to major finals in forces competitions.
JD loves the daily challenges of arborist work. Problem-solving, working through complex tasks, and spending every day outdoors are what keep him motivated. “Climbing a tree is refreshing and challenging,” he says. “It’s like hitting the reset button.”
When he’s not in a harness or coaching boxing, you’ll find JD at the gym, unwinding with a big meal afterward.
Looking ahead, JD has his sights set on earning his ISA certification and eventually achieving his MCA. For him, arboriculture isn’t just a job—it’s a lifestyle and a career where he truly feels like he’s following his bliss.
